Ariana Grande is having a great being the judge on the sets of The Voice, and it’s double the fun for the singer as she gets to dress up in some iconic looks.
Ariana Grande’s love for 13 Going on 30 is well known. The singer embodied Jennifer Garner’s iconic rom-com role as Jenna Rink in her “Thank U, Next” video, and on Monday, she recreated another iconic look from the film for her first-ever live show on The Voice.
The 2004 romantic comedy saw Jennifer Garner sporting the now-iconic, colorful dress from Versace’s Spring 2003 collection with a slick yet spiky updo and vibrant makeup to match. Ariana Grande wore the same dress as Garner, on The Voice Monday episode.
The pop star also sported a frosty eyeshadow and pink lip combination. The look was likely created with products from her forthcoming R.E.M Beauty line, which will be released on Friday.
Garner’s character, an awkward teenager who wakes up as a grown-up magazine journalist overnight, wears the dress to a work party where she orchestrates a group dance routine to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”
Ari took the stage alongside fellow coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend for the first live show of season 21, rocking the memorable multi-colored Versace dress. She also showed off the look on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Thank you so so so so much @donatellaversace @versace and happy first live show!!! @nbcthevoice #teamariana.”
Meanwhile, Ariana Grande cried over the tough decision on the first live ‘Voice’ results show.
The first live results show of The Voice Season 21 took place Tuesday, and it also happened to be the first-ever live results show for new coach Ariana Grande. While veteran coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Blake Shelton are accustomed to making tough elimination decisions, Ariana broke into panicked tears when Carson asked her to save one of her at-risk team members.
On Tuesday, the top two vote-getters from each team automatically advanced, after which each coach was forced to pick just one additional contestant (from each team’s remaining three) to bring to the top 12 round. Then Carson revealed one artist from each team who’d get the chance to compete for a 13th wild-card spot.
When it was time to read Team Ariana’s results, Carson announced that America had voted through father/son duo Jim & Sasha Allen and powerhouse Holly Forbes. This meant that Ariana could only save one of her remaining pop divas who’d apparently split the vote: Ryleigh Plank, Bella DeNapoli, or Raquel Trinidad.
“I know how tough this is for you. We can see the emotion on your face,” noted Carson, as Ariana’s eyes welled up.
“I don’t know how this possibly could have happened,” gasped Ariana. “I just… I mean, everyone is equally… I don’t have any idea what to say. You’re all so brilliant — incredible vocalists and human beings. I will be here as a friend and mentor for you; I’m a FaceTime away. I love you all so much and respect you forever. Oh my God, this is hell! I love you so, so, so, so much…”
“…OK, take a breath,” the stoic Carson advised. Ariana then saved Ryleigh.
