“I know I look really, really different since you last saw me,” said Adele, as she took to the stage on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, showcasing her dramatic weight loss.
The 32-year-old singer returned to the sketch show for the first time since 2015 when she appeared as a musical guest.
The songstress stunned her fans with an almost unrecognizable photo on Instagram in May to celebrate her birthday.
During her opening monologue, Adele giving the credits to the pandemic said, “because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light, and I could only bring half of me, and this is the half I chose.”
Last week Adele shared how excited she is to be on SNL on Instagram: “I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand-alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right.”
“But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump headfirst into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?” she continued.
Adele’s jaw-dropping transformation is widely attributed to the Sirtfood Diet. A meal plan that focuses on sirtuins or proteins in the body that specialize in cellular health and metabolism.
The program founded in the United Kingdom has also been Pippa Middleton’s favourite. The list of top 20 Sirtfood includes kale, strawberry, onions, extra virgin olive oil, red wine, dark chocolate, coffee, and matcha green tea, to name a few.
Adele’s skit was inspired by the ABC dating series and she played herself as a contestant competing for the affections of Ben K. (Beck Bennett) against other younger women who all seemed to be named Hannah.
“I’m here because I’ve had a lot of heartbreak in my life. First at 19, then famously at 21 and then even more famously at 25,” the singer said, introducing herself to viewers. “I have a really good feeling about Ben K. I can already tell he’s going to be the next love of my life.”
Attracting the bachelor wasn’t too different from what happens in the real ABC series, but during the SNL skit, Adele took it to a whole different level. Any chance she got, the vocalist burst into song, performing any of her top-charting hits.
The skit concluded with her breaking up a final scene as she broke into a full-voiced finale of “Someone Like You.”
