Anna Faris’ exit from the show has left most of the fans in shock and her co-stars too. Allison Janney and Anna Faris have been the face of the CBS show Mom for ages. It seems that Allison Janney is missing her on-set daughter in the current season. She admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday that it was a much different experience without Anna.
“It was very odd,” Janney said of returning to set. “She’s very missed. Anna is missed and her character on the show is missed.”
She further continued, “We’re just happy that she’s doing what she wants to do now and we’re happy even more so that we’re able to still tell these stories about these great women and recovery and I think there are some really wonderful characters that have been established.”
How Allison Janney felt about three Critic’s Choice Nominations?
Mom was also recently nominated for the Critics’ Choice Award in three categories including Best Comedy Series. Janney was quite thrilled upon hearing the news and shared her experience on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and said, “The network shows tend to get pushed aside because there are so many great shows… So to get a nom in our eighth season and for William Fichtner and Jaime Pressly to get recognized. They’re so wonderful and I’m really proud.”
“We’re happy even more so that we’re able to still tell these stories about these great women and recovery. There are some really wonderful characters that have been established. People love the show so we’re going to keep telling the stories as long as we can,” she shared.
Anna Faris’ exit from Mom
Anna Faris’ exit was announced back in September 2020. Despite Anna Faris’ sudden exit from the show, her character, Christy Plunkett got a proper farewell by the show makers. Christy was seen flying off to Georgetown Law School in Washington D.C. to pursue her career where she had received a full scholarship. Currently, the show is on its Season 8 with Allison as the only Mom of the show.
“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,” said Faris in a statement. “I’m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre, executive producer], the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”
