Alfred Molina along with actors from the previous Spider-Man series will make a comeback in the upcoming Marvel Spider-Man movie
According to Hollywood Reporter, Alfred Molina who earned nominations for Emmy and Golden Globe Awards will play the role of villain Otto Octavius or Doctor Octopus in Tom Holland’s “Spiderman 3.” In 2004, he played the same role as a brilliant scientist who turned into an eight-limbed villain in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. The rumors started making rounds last month when GWW reported that Alfred Molina was seen working on stunt choreography and some scenes.
In 2014, Alfred Molina was asked by Collider if given a chance to reprise his legendary role, then will he do it again? And here is what he said, “That was the most fun I think I’ve ever had on a movie of that kind. Those big, big sort of features where you spend like six months hanging off a wire, you know.” He further added, “It was the first movie of that kind that I’d ever been involved in. I had a wonderful time. I loved it. I mean, I’d go back and do it again in a heartbeat.”
The 67-year-old British actor has previously been a part of movies like The Da Vinci Code, Feud: Bette and Joan, Not Without My Daughter, Frida. Alfred Molina’s upcoming movies include a revenge thriller Promising Young Woman.
Spider-Man 3 is expected to bring back many previous actors from the Spider-Man series. Actor Benedict Cumberbatch, Kristen Dunst, and Andrew Garfield will return as Doctor Strange, MJ, and Peter Parker respectively.
Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts will direct the upcoming Marvel Spider-Man movie as well. The previous Spider-Man movie which is Spider-Man: Far From Home collected more than $1 billion worldwide, thus becoming the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie of all time.
The movie is scheduled to release on December 17, 2021, by Sony.
