Amber Heard Johnny Depp Trial: Heard’s First Witness Describes A Fight Between The Pair

Heard filed for divorce from Depp on May 23, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences.

On Day 17 of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial, Amber Heard’s first witness was called, who recalled a defecation incident during a pre-recorded deposition to the court.

In a taped deposition from March 2022, iO Tillett Wright — an author, producer and longtime friend of Heard, 36 — testified during the ongoing defamation trial that he received a phone call from Heard on May 21, 2016, asking him to clear up the infamous fecal matter incident.

Depp had accused him and Heard of defecating on his pillow. When both Wright and Heard laughed at the idea, Depp allegedly flew into a rage and threatened his then-wife. “You think I hit you?” the actor allegedly asked Heard. “What if I peel your f–ing hair back?”

Wright, who was on speaker with the troubled couple, then described an ensuing fight between the pair, which ended when Heard screamed and the phone dropped. A Concerned Wright said he then proceeded to call several friends of his to help intervene.

Wright, 36, described Depp as an addict who could be “incredibly cruel and mean” when intoxicated.

He told the court that, when drunk, Depp would insult everybody from his fans to his then-wife.
“[Heard] has no talent,” the actor allegedly told Wright. “And when her t**s start to sag and her face gets wrinkly, nobody is going to be interested in her for anything, so she better figure out another way to survive.”

During Tuesday’s court testimonies, Heard’s former best friend Pennington testified that they once had gotten into a physical altercation over a trivial matter as the two were preparing for Thanksgiving. Depp allegedly made the remarks in the yard of his house, while Heard was inside the house crying.

Wright also said Depp admitted using drugs in front of his children, Lily-Rose and Jack. The actor allegedly told Wright he felt a deep “shame” about his drug habit’s impact on his family. Describing Depp as “very open,” Wright said the actor confided in him about his Oxycontin habit, which he described as the “hardest thing he ever tried to kick.”

Another footage played during the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial was Amber Heard having James Franco over to her home the night before she filed for divorce from Johnny Depp.

The video shows Franco inside the elevator of the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles on May 22, 2016 — one day after Depp allegedly hurled a phone at Heard in their penthouse pad there.
Franco, 44, wears a hat and backpack and can be seen resting his head on Heard’s shoulder, as she appears to place her head on his.

During cross-examination on Tuesday, Heard, 36, was asked by Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez about her testimony where she addressed seeking a temporary domestic violence restraining order on May 27, 2016, so she could change the locks.

Heard had said on Monday that she was “falling apart” and having difficulty sleeping because of panic attacks over Depp entering the residence she was staying. She testified that building staff would let him in even if she requested, he not be allowed.

Vasquez then asked why Heard “felt comfortable having James Franco over the evening of May 22, 2016, Ms. Heard?” Heard responded, “I do not know when James came over,” to which the attorney said, “Okay, let’s remind you.” She then played elevator surveillance footage of Heard and Franco with the timestamp of May 22, 2016, at about 11 p.m. on their way up to her penthouse.
Heard, 36, confirmed that it was Franco in the video and that the two former co-stars were going to her penthouse. “That’s where I lived, yes,” she testified.

Heard filed for divorce from Depp on May 23, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. She filed for a temporary restraining order four days later, alleging domestic abuse.
