Anna Faris has decided to say her good-byes to the CBS’ Sitcom ‘Mom’, which is entering into its 8th season. This move will leave Anna’s co-star and her on-screen mother, Allison Janney as the sole mom on the show.
In February after season six ended, the two leads had renewed their contract for two years with CBS and Warner Bros. studios in 2019 and now are in middle of the contract term. The writers of the show have already acknowledged the exit of Mom’s Christy and have started to look for someone to fill Anna’s shoes in the upcoming season 8.
“The past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,” Stated Faris. “I’m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre], the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I’ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.”
‘Mom’ is created by Chuck Lorre Productions, famous for producing hit Sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men. Anna Faris landed the series lead in 2012 and starts her long show journey the next year, which was her debut role in any TV series.
“From the inception of Mom, Anna was the first and only choice for the role of Christy,” announced WBTV, CBS and Chuck Lorre Prods. “We are so proud of the stories we have been able to tell during Anna’s seven years with us. We wish Anna all the best, and we thank her for her beautiful portrayal.”
Mom’s plot follows Christy (Anna’s character), who is a mother with alcohol issues, but then her whimsical mother Bonnie comes into her life and they try to balance each other’s character dynamics and pursue sobriety. The show has been a complete hit with amazing ratings as proven by itslong run so far with 152 episodes as of yet. Anna reportedly earned $200,000 per episode on her show Mom, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Newly engaged Anna also has a podcast which she is dedicated to from 2015, called Unqualified. Which is a lifestyle advice based podcast and interviews celebrities and listeners.
