Anne Hathaway has been a massive troll to Jared Leto on the set of their Apple TV+ series “WeCrashed”, a show based on the rise and fall of multimillionaire giant WeWork. The 39-year-old actress apparently did an impersonation of Lady Gaga’s role in the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed movie House of Gucci in front of Lato, who is also a part of the same.
“I really respect Jared’s process, and I had a wonderful time working with whoever that was, and we really created the most beautiful connection between us,” she said with a chuckle in a recent interview with Stephen Colbert. “The day the House of Gucci trailer came out, I mean, I had to do something. I couldn’t just let it be,” she continued.
Anne Hathaway knew how to win Jared Leto’s heart
She also reminisced about a particularly stressful day of work (which coincidentally was on the same day on which the House of Gucci trailer dropped) when she bid goodnight to Leto with a carefully crafted farewell. “”The House of Gucci trailer came out, we shot a really intense scene all day,” [I said], ‘Just one more thing,’ and I go, ‘Father, Son, House of Gucci,’ because you have to!” she said caricaturing Lady Gaga’s iconic scene in the movie.
According to Anne Hathaway, Jared Leto’s response was well…. as “Leto-esque” you can imagine. “I didn’t know what would happen because he’s so intense in his commitment to his process, but I swear to God he split into three,” she said. “It was like a Horcrux: Over here was Jared, over here was Paolo Gucci, and here was Adam Neumann…. He came back in and I was like, ‘Oh dear,’ and he was like, ‘Woah, I think I just time-traveled!'” she added.
What does she think about his role in House of Gucci?
Anne Hathaway also mentioned how much she appreciated Jared Leto’s work in House of Gucci. He plays Paolo Gucci, the founder of luxury and high-fashion brand Gucci where he learned and imitated the fashion giant’s infamous accent to the T. The “The Devil Wears Prada” actress mentioned that it was the “look in the eyes” that charmed her the most.
“We Zoomed before we started, but I kind of think he was Paolo Gucci,” she said. “He was not doing an accent, but when I saw House of Gucci, I saw the look in his eyes,” she added.
Hathaway also confessed that she “hadn’t met” the Suicide Squad actor “out of character” as the controversial WeWork co-founder Neumann in the set at all. The first time she saw Leto in his real-life personality was at the series’ SXSW premiere last weekend.
