Archie’s birth certificate has seen some changes made to the royal parents, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s names and there is a lot of speculation going on about this controversial move.
According to The Sun, Archie’s birth certificate was made a couple of weeks after the royal couple’s joy was born, where Meghan Markle’s name was mentioned as “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex” and her husband’s name was mentioned as “His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.”
Almost a month after the birth of Archie Harrison on June 5, both of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s names were changed on Archie’s birth certificate as Meghan removed her first maiden name and kept the name to just the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex” while Prince Harry added “Prince” to the name which now reads- “His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.”
What is the cause of the changes made in Archie’s birth certificate?
While it may seem as a snub made to insult other family members of the Royal household considering the tense relations between them, a representative for Meghan Markle stated that the reason for the change is not to snub any of them but the decision was dictated by the Royal household.
“The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials,” read the statement made to Hello!. “This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex. To see this U.K. tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ chose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document would be laughable were it not offensive. There’s a lot going on in the world; let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait.”
While some theories provided by the Sun claim that “The unprecedented move could be seen as a snub to the Cambridges who have included Kate’s names on her children’s certificates.”
Another reason could be that “It may also be viewed as Harry aligning his wife with mum Di, who always used ‘Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales.'”
