Ariana Grande will be joining The Voice as a coach for season 21 and Arianators clearly cannot keep calm.
The Positions singer will be replacing Nick Jonas, who returned to the singing competition series for season 20, which premiered earlier this month. Jonas first joined the show for season 18, but Gwen Stefani replaced him for the next season.
Grande shared the exciting news on social media, posting a photo of herself sitting on one of the judge’s chairs. “Surprise !!! I am beyond thrilled, honored, excited to be joining @kellyclarkson, @johnlegend, @blakeshelton next season ~ season 21 of @nbcthevoice,” she wrote. The 27-year-old added that Jonas will be missed.
“As an undeniable force in pop music, Ariana’s inimitable success in the music industry is extraordinary,” NBC executive Jenny Groom said in a statement. “Ariana is a visionary with over a decade of experience in the music industry. Her unmatched vocal skills, creativity, and unique expertise on all facets of the industry will make her an invaluable coach to the next generation of artists.”
In the press release, Grande revealed that she has been a big fan of The Voice for a long time. “I can’t wait to go head-to-head with the incredible coaches, get to know these new artists, and help to take their craft to the next level,” she said.
The Voice family also extended a warm welcome to Ariana Grande. “Congrats. You’re going to kill it next season, Welcome to the family,” Nick Jonas wrote, sharing Ari’s post on his Instagram Stories. Kelly Clarkson rightly said that the next season will be bringing some “powerful female energy,” to which Ariana replied saying “It’s an honour”.
The official Instagram handle of The Voice also used the opportunity to hop onto the “How it started vs. How it’s going” trend with a screenshot of Ariana’s tweet about the show from back in 2011.
While Nick will certainly be missed, it’ll be exciting to see what Ariana Grande brings to the table as a coach!
