Arnold Schwarzenegger wished his son Joseph Baena a happy birthday on social media on Saturday. “Happy birthday @projoe2!” the 74-year-old action star wrote in the caption. “I am so proud of you and I love you!”
The Hollywood legend praised Baena for his commitment to his career and fitness goals. “You are crushing it in the gym, in your real estate career, and in acting,” he said. “I know this will be another fantastic year.”
Arnold posted a series of photos from a previous brunch outing, including the pair holding up their glasses — green juice for Arnold and a mug (possibly with coffee) for Joseph — at a beautifully decorated restaurant. The Austrian native also included some old photos of him and his son, such as a father-son bike ride around Los Angeles and another casual photo in front of a bodybuilding mural.
“Thank you dad!” replied the 24-year-old second-generation bodybuilder. “I love you too!”
In another of Joseph’s posts, the real estate agent was all grins, holding a candle-lit cake. Along with a cute puppy and Joseph’s older brother Roger Baena, Arnold was beaming as he placed a gentle hand on Joseph’s back.
In the photo, Arnold Schwarzenegger was wearing a brown top advertising his Arnold Classic expo in Ohio, while his son Joseph Baena was wearing a rose T-shirt with a necklace. Roger was dressed in a khaki top and green pants.
“So thankful for all the birthday wishes yesterday!!!” the Pepperdine University alum captioned the photo. “23 was amazing! It was filled with new friends new experiences and most importantly, a lot of goals met. Feeling extra grateful and excited to see what happens in year 24!”
In recent years, Joseph Baena, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son with Mildred Patricia Baena, has built a close relationship with his biological father.
Like his famous father, the California native has taken up bodybuilding, and the two are frequently seen catching up on bike rides around Los Angeles. With ex-wife Maria Shriver, Arnold is the father of Joseph’s half-siblings Katherine, 31, Christina, 30, Patrick, 28, and Christopher, 24.
Joseph goes to Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach on a regular basis, where his father established his bodybuilding history. Joseph resorted to social media this summer to wish his father a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday Dad!” Joseph said. “I hope your pump was juicy and may your day be filled with lots of schnitzel, schnapps and stogies.”
