Call Me By Your Name actor Timothee Chalamet is all set to host the Met Gala 2021. The biggest fashion fundraiser was canceled last year. This was due to the unprecedented pandemic situation that the Metropolitan Museum was closed from mid-March 2020. And now, the event is renewed for its 75th year. Many important industry events have been postponed or canceled this year. But in all goodness, we have the date for the Timothee Chalamet participating Met Gala 2021.
When is the event?
The star-studded event of the year will happen late this year on September 13th, 2021. As we are shifting towards a new normal, we hope that the event finally goes ahead this year. Last year’s Met Gala was a black-tie event. This year the theme/ dress code is American fashion. All the event attendees will have to strictly follow the dress code.
Marina Kellen, the French Director of the Met said, “Fashion is both a harbinger of cultural shifts and a record of the forces, beliefs and events that shape our lives… In looking at the past through this lens, we can consider the aesthetic and cultural impact of fashion on historical aspects of American life.”
Timothee Chalamet will be hosting the Met gala 2021 along with Amanda Gorman and CFDA Chairman Tom Ford. Chalamet having never attended the event before was selected by Vogue’s Anna Wintour. This is an invite-only event and we can see a bunch of stars from the fashion industry. The artists will arrive with their designers as dates this year.
Chalamet’s view on the Gala
In 2018, Chalamet told Time Out, “I hear about celebrities who have stylists, and that blows my mind. It’s certainly not why I act, but I can wear cool clothes from some of the nicest designers in the world. So why am I going to pay someone to figure out what I should be wearing? That’s the fun part.”
