Beyoncé Goes Country In The New Ivy Park x Adidas Collection

Honoring Black Americans.

The next drop of the Adidas x Ivy Park collection is here and this time Beyoncé is taking her way back to the rodeo. The Texas girl is here to tell the often-forgotten story of Black cowboys and cowgirls.

The entertainer-entrepreneur teased the label’s next release, due to drop on August 19, with an unexpected campaign model featuring an image of actor Glynn Turman and his granddaughter, Melinda, wearing denim with three stripes — jackets, jeans, and even chaps over shorts for Melinda under the tag line: Ivy Park Rodeo.

With the latest collection, Beyoncé is using her athleisure brand to honor the Black Americans who helped create American cowboy heritage and the Western frontier. With this, she continues to use her talent to stir social consciousness and educate.

Highlighting black cowboys, Ivy Park posted an Instagram video earlier this week that showed Turman and his granddaughter Melinda, wearing pieces from the collection while caring for horses on a ranch. “I’ve always loved horses, ever since I was a kid,” Turman says in the video. “I used to go up to Central Park to the stables and I’d say to the man, ‘Hey, I’ll shovel all that horse manure if you’ll let me ride the horse for free.’”

According to the official description, “the collection celebrates oft-hidden history of Black pioneers within cowboy and cowgirl culture and their continued influence and impact on the American Rodeo.”

A full trailer dropped on Friday morning that shows Beyoncé and a slew of models and dancers enter the corral, reminding us that many of America’s earliest cowboys and cowgirls were Black. And on her part, Beyoncé looks stunning as ever in the video, where she models the Ivy Park x Adidas designs, including a demin body suit, denim chaps, and a cow print sports bra and leggings set.

The new extensive range will include 58 pieces of women’s and unisex apparel, five shoes, and 13 accessories. And the designs include a denim bodysuit, a wide-leg snap pant, tracksuit, bucket hat, and chaps, which will be available in various washes of denim and washed heavy French terry, as well as a purple cow print.

Following the pattern of past Ivy Park x Adidas drops, the collection will be available in inclusive sizing from XXXS to 4XL. And the prices range from $45 to $200 for the apparel and $25 to $75 for the accessories, with shoes retailing for $140 to $200.

The Daddy’s Lessons singer began hinting at the cowboy-inspired collection earlier this week when the Ivy Park website and Instagram page posted a video featuring the Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom actor Glynn Turman discussing the legacy of Black cowboys on horseback.

Fans may have been expecting a cowboy-focused collection, as The Daddy’s Lessons singer began hinting at the cowboy-inspired collection earlier this week on the Ivy Park website and Instagram page.

Ivy Park Rodeo will be Beyoncé’s second drop of the summer, as she just released Flex Park last month. The neon orange collection was inspired by the muscle beach culture, which was brand’s first foray into swimwear, complete with high-rise bikinis, sexy one-pieces, and men’s swim shorts.
