Britney Spears’ Father Has Agreed To Relinquish His Conservatorship

After more than a decade!

Jamie Spears, Britney Spears’ father, has decided to relinquish his conservatorship over his daughter. The development is a huge success for the international music diva, who has been in a conservatorship for the past 13 years, since Jamie placed his famous daughter under the court-ordered arrangement in 2008 after she had a public breakdown.

The shocking decision comes in the wake of the pop star’s recent explosive revelations about Jamie’s conservatorship handling. Judge Brenda Penny of the Los Angeles Superior Court denied Spears’ new counsel, Mathew Rosengart, plea to expedite a hearing on suspending Jamie’s conservatorship powers earlier this week. Rosengart hails Britney Spears‘ father’s decision to stand down as a “major victory.” He aims to investigate Spears’ behaviour over the previous 13 years and plans to depose him under oath.

Jamie’s lawyer claims in fresh court filings acquired by TMZ on Thursday that there are no legitimate grounds for Jamie’s removal, but that he has chosen to stand down due to public “attacks” and Spears’ attempts to remove him.

According to Britney Spears’ father’s court filing, “There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr. Spears as the Conservator of the Estate. … And it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears’ best interests.” It further reads, “Nevertheless, even as Mr. Spears is the unremitting target of unjustified attacks, he does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests. So even though he must contest this unjustified Petition for his removal, Mr. Spears intends to work with the Court and his daughter’s new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator. As the Court has likely surmised, before Ms. Spears’ new attorney arrived, Mr. Spears had already been working on such a transition with Ms. Spears’ former court-appointed counsel, Sam Ingham.”

Lynne Spears, Jamie’s ex-wife and Spears’ mother, has also been accused of abandoning her daughter and having little to do with the conservatorship.

When Lynne went to a mental health facility in 2018, he claimed Lynne never visited her. Britney Spears’ father defended the conservatorship as well, arguing that when it was established in 2008, Spears was in “crisis” and “desperately in need of help.”

“Not only was she suffering mentally and emotionally, but she was also being manipulated by predators and in financial distress. Mr. Spears came to his daughter’s rescue to protect her,” Spears’ lawyer stated, before going on to say that despite her recent statements, he never coerced Spears to do anything.

“We are pleased that Mr. Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms. Spears and others,” Rosengart says. “We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future.”

“In the interim, rather than making false accusations and taking cheap shots at his own daughter, Mr. Spears should remain silent and step aside immediately,” He concludes.
