Britney Spears Reveals The Painful Details Of Her Conservatorship In Court Hearing

“I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive.”

Britney Spears broke her silence on the conservatorship she’s lived under for 13 long years.

The singer gave a 24-minute statement before a judge and the hearing was livestreamed by the media. Britney vented it all out, and the details couldn’t be scarier.

For the unversed, Britney Spears has been under her father Jamie Spears’ conservatorship since 2008. Not only does he control her finances, but also all her little, day-to-day decisions.

The Gimme More singer has to consult her conservator for everything — from the terms of her Las Vegas residency to the choice of her kitchen cabinets.

In the court hearing on Wednesday, Britney made a strong case against her conservatorship. Here’s what she said.

“I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years. And it’s enough,” Britney Spears said about her conservatorship

“A lot has happened since two years ago…the last time I was in court,” Britney began. “I haven’t been back to court in a long time because I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court the last time.”

The 39-year-old then revealed how she had been forced to do tours and take medications she didn’t want to.

“I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad about anything. I told them I was scared and they had six different nurses come to my home to monitor me while I was on this medication that I didn’t want to be on to begin with.”

“My family didn’t do a goddamn thing. Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad.”

“The control he had over someone as powerful as me — he loved the control to hurt his own daughter 100,000%,” Britney said about her dad.

Revealing what her conservatorship looked like, she said. “Making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away — credit card, cash, phone, passport.”

The singer said that if she didn’t do as they said, she wasn’t allowed to see her kids and boyfriend. “If I didn’t do any of my meetings and work from eight to six at night, which is 10 hours a day, seven days a week, no days off, I wouldn’t be able to see my kids or my boyfriend. I never had a say in my schedule.”

Britney Spears says she was in denial when she said she’s okay

She said she lied to the world when she said “I’m OK and I’m happy.” “I thought I just maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy because I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatized.”

“You know, fake it till you make it. But now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day.”

The singer also revealed that she wants to get married and have more children. But she hasn’t been able to do so — because of the conservatorship.

“I deserve to have a life. I’ve worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three-year break and just, you know, do what I want to do. But I do feel like there is a crutch here.”

She added, “I’m tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does, by having a child, a family, any of those things, and more so.”
