Since it began, Pride Month has been synonymous with major events all across the world tinged in its rainbow theme. Though in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, all physical events including the pride parades have been canceled, it doesn’t mean that 2020’s Pride Month will be any less colorful as fashion brands have been coming forward with unique pride collections to support the LGBTQ+ community like Torrid, Nike, Nyx, etc., with the latest being Puma’s collaboration with model and LGBTQ+ activist Cara Delevingne to celebrate the event.
Cara Delevingne has collaborated with PUMA on a 13-piece capsule collection, which comprises of everything from rainbow-colored flip-flops, hoodies, tie-dye t-shirts, waist bags, more, with the message- ‘From Puma With Love’- at it core, dedicating it to the Pride Month this June. And as Puma announced, the collection is to be “worn with pride, featuring vibrant colors, rainbow designs, and bold graphics”.
And who better than the charismatic Cara Delevingne, the brand ambassador for Puma and member of the LGBTQ+ community herself, to endorse the amazing collection. As per Puma’s recently released statement, the collection is “inspired by Cara’s passion to show love, hope and kindness toward one another while also giving back to the LGBTQ+ community and its members.”
“Cara’s active voice as a leader and a member of LGBT community made her a perfect partner to collaborate with on this Pride-inspired project,” said Adam Petrick, global director of brand and marketing at Puma.”It’s more important now than ever to support each other and, through this collection, it reminds us that we’re always stronger together.”
While showcasing the collection during the pride parade is an impossibility now, Delevingne will be advertising the merchandise on Tik-Tok’s Pride-based events as well as Puma’s social media platforms this month, though she is already promoting the products on her Insta-handle. Not only is the fun collection affordable- all items have been priced below $100- but also, 20% of the sale proceeds will be donated to the Cara Delevingne Foundation- a part of the Giving Back Foundation supporting LGBTQ+ charities like GLAAD, The Trevor Project, and Mind Out.
Puma is not the only one who has surprised everyone with its fashion-forward collection
Another fashion brand, the California-based Torrid (known for its plus-size fashion) also launched its 2020 pride collection.
Drenched in the hues of the ‘90s, the collection- labeled “Celebrate Love”- comprises of 18 different pieces all rooted in ’90s style. It consists of cute tees, bike shorts, collection caps, Disney rainbow sneakers, sweats, dresses, etc., all made with the Pride Parade in mind. Like other fashion brands, Torrid too will be donating 20 percent of all sales to the Torrid Foundation in support of GLAAD.
