On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th Jayanti, Sikhs from all over the world visited the Golden Temple to be a part of the celebration. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, also wrote the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy text of Sikhism. As a part of the celebration, a Palki housing the Guru Granth sahib is carried in a procession through the city. The Golden temple, which in general is radiant of history and glory, lights up beautifully during special occasions like Guru Nanak Jayanti, and the 550th birthday had to be extra special.
A social media post worth a million wishes!
While some celebrities actually visited the Golden Temple on Tuesday, November 12th, others who couldn’t, resorted to wishing their fans over social media. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Greetings on this auspicious day of the 550th Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.”
He added quotes of Guru Nanak and a photo of the Golden Temple in an attempt to better his post.
Aamir Khan, whose social media engagement isn’t very high, also ensured he sends down his wishes. Aamir Khan tweeted, “Assi saareyaan nu Guru Purab diyan lakh lakh vadhaiyan. Love, a”.
Akshay Kumar uploaded an Instagram video greeting the people in Punjabi, and captioned it as: “As we celebrate the 550th birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji, may his teachings inspire you to achieve all your goals and bless you with peace and happiness. Happy Guru Nanak Jayanti.”
