Chadwick Boseman’s Final Tweet Is The Most Liked And Retweeted Post Of 2020

The year 2020 has had it all– chaos, drama, tragedy, good news, and whatnot. Every next day, a new thing trends on Twitter, with millions commenting and resharing. So, when the social media platform sat down to look back at the tally for the year, it was discovered that the tweet announcing the sad demise of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman by his family is not only the most liked tweet ever but was also retweeted the most in 2020. 

The tweet, the final post from Chadwick Boseman’s Twitter account, was made by his family, announcing that the actor had passed away on 28th August after heroically battling colon cancer for four years. Twitter has confirmed that the final tweet from his account is now the most-liked tweet on the platform of all time. In fact, it had attained the record in less than 24 hours after it was posted. 

“Most liked tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever,” Twitter posted on its official account.

As of now, the post has over 7.5 million likes, 3.1 million retweets, and 165,600 comments, thus making the tweet the most retweeted post of 2020. In the tweet, Chadwick Boseman’s family had shared how 43-year-old the actor had been delivering one iconic performance after another while he silently battled cancer. 

“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV,” the tweet said. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.”

In its  #ThisHappened2020 year in review, Twitter further shared that after the final tweet from Boseman’s account, the next most-liked tweet of 2020 was from Barack Obama– his moving post remembering another legend lost in 2020 i.e., NBA star Kobe Bryant, who passed away in January in a plane crash with his teen daughter.

Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day,” he had written in his post. 

After Obama’s tweet, comedian Andy Milonakis’ tweet, Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin’s birthday tweet, and Kamala Harris’s tweet celebrating Joe Biden’s win.
