Chris Evans has started filming for the spy thriller The Gray Man alongside Ryan Gosling. Recently, the actor showed off a giant bruise which he received while performing some stunt scene in the movie. The Captain America actor took to his Instagram on Friday to post a photo of a giant red-purple bruise on his forearm. He stated that he got the bruise after getting into a “little tussle with the gray man“. He also cheekily captioned the post, “It’s like watching the leaves turn in autumn, but condensed into one painful afternoon”. The series of photos depicted that the bruise got darker as time passed by.
Well, we aren’t shocked by the fact that Chris Evans decided to do stunts in The Gray Man himself. The actor had been playing the role of Captain America in the Marvel franchise, where he had even stopped a helicopter with just his arm. Hence, we can see how he will be thrilled to perform a real-life action or fight sequence. The spy thriller is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The duo has already worked with Evans in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
What is Chris Evans’ Netflix The Gray Man?
Chris Evans’ The Gray Man is being made under the Netflix banner with a budget of $200 Million. It is based on Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name. It explores the lives of a freelance assassin and former CIA operative who is on the run from his former team member. Ryan Gosling plays the lead, named Court Gentry, who will be hunted by Chris Evans character Lloyd Hansen. The movie also stars Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfre Woodard, Wagner Moura, Dhanush Regé-Jean Page, and Julia Butters.
The Gray Man is written by Joe Russo, along with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The trio has worked together in the Marvel franchise. It would be a big project for Russo Brothers after their super-successful Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame movies. The production of the movie was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic but it was finally started in March 2021. Chris Evans’ The Gray Man can also be turned into a franchise as along with the current part which is filmed, there are 9 other parts that can also be filmed and converted into a franchise.
“The intention is for it to be competitive with any theatrical and the ability to do with Gosling and Evans is a dream for us,” Joe Russo said about the project.
“Gray Man is a spy film. For fans of The Winter Soldier, The Gray Man is similar in a sense that we’re trying to embed it in a very modern, current environment that we’re facing on a global level in terms of spy networks and [the] CIA,” Anthony Russo said during a CCXP panel (via Collider). “It’ll be fun to see Chris in the opposite role of Captain America.”
