Dua Lipa raised the style quotient joining Elton John and others for his celebrated 2021 Oscars viewing party – in honor of the Elton John Aids Foundation.
Since its inception in 1993, this was the first time the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars Party was held virtually on Sunday. Members of the public could attend the live stream for a fee, the proceeds of which went to causes supported by the foundation.
For the first ever virtual gala, Lipa wore a velvet Balenciaga gown that featured long sleeves and a full mermaid skirt. Over the turtleneck, she wore a stunning Bulgari necklace.
For her next performance, Dua Lipa added some sparkle with her glittering Balenciaga.
The long-sleeve, sheer-paneled piece came fresh off the runway from the brand’s fall ’21 collection. She topped it with a fringed hem and iridescent silver detailing. The look also included Chopard earrings, Fabergé jewelry and glowing white pumps also from Balenciaga.
Dua Lipa, 25, performed her hits “Levitating,” “Pretty Please,” “Hallucinate” and “Don’t Start Now.”
Dua Lipa and Elton John then came together for a duet of “Bennie and the Jets” and “Love Again.”
Elton John, 74, went for a glittering look as well. His lurex blazer flaunted a shimmering blue finish and personalized patches across the chest. True to his fashion, the singer musician layered the piece over a relaxed tee and included retro-chic pink shades to match.
The 2021 Oscars viewing party was hosted by John, his husband, David Furnish, and their close friend Neil Patrick Harris.
“It was so much fun to perform with the gorgeous Dua Lipa and open up our Party to supporters all over the world,” John said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to Neil for hosting, everyone who attended and all my friends who participated so that we could continue this legendary event to raise vital funds to end the AIDS epidemic.”
The Oscars viewing party, which took place at the Rosewood Hotel in London, also featured Lady Gaga, Cynthia Erivo, and Elizabeth Hurley. Proving to be a success, the event raised close to $3 million.
