Ed Sheeran revealed himself to be the celebrity matchmaker for the now-engaged couple Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid.
After shocking fans with his creepy transformation for his latest adrenaline-fueled music video, “Bad Habits”, the singer has now again given another surprise to fans by unveiling himself to be a jack-of-all-trades especially in the department of love.
Ed Sheeran recently arrived on the Hits Breakfast Radio Show to talk about how he match-made his friend and the “Friends” star, Courtney Cox and his best mate and Snow Patrol lead singer Johnny McDaid to fall in love with each other.
“I introduced her to my best mate Johnny (McDaid – of Snow Patrol), who I wrote Shape of You and Bad Habits with.”
Of course, Ed Sheeran also explained the full details of where and when the first meeting between the two took place and it seems the singer decided to be the third-wheel for the sake of his bestie, John McDaid.
“He’s also godfather to Lyra, but yeah I introduced them like nine years ago. She just invited me round her house and I just kept going round and then one day I brought Johnny and he didn’t come home.”
After that, the love story of Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid began with the couple dating each other for a year, after which they got engaged. However, personal differences came between the two and they went their separate ways after years of being a couple.
But the magic of the cupid Ed Sheeran did not wear off as the two got back together in December 2020 after spending 9-months apart from one another.
Ed Sheeran has been friends with Johnny McDaid for a long time and decided to make him the godfather of his daughter Lyra.
“It’s just new responsibilities isn’t it? It’s less selfish. You know… If I have like a night out with my mates now it’s like planned, and we do it like properly, rather than just having like random spur of the moment thing,” said Sheeran about becoming a dad.
“But yeah she’s great, she’s ten months now, almost walking and it’s the best. It’s the best… It’s definitely a shift, you have to completely change your life but it is the best thing that I’ve ever done.”
