Imogen, Ed Sheeran’s mother, has made it to the headlines after her retail company made an announcement earlier today: “Due to COVID-19 our online shop is closed until later in the year. Thank you for your continued support.” Her jewelry business revolves around Ed Sheeran’s style and thus, has been in popular demand among his fans including the famous F.R.I.E.N.D.S star Courteney Cox.
Ed Sheeran’s mother decides to put a pause on operations due to coronavirus
Ed Sheeran’s mother produces beautiful bracelets and necklaces using Liquorice Allsorts that are based on Jaffa Cakes, Smarties, Marmite jars, and Shrimp Chews. These pieces are heavily inspired by Ed Sheeran’s aura and fans have shown their support to the company from the day of its inception. Both Imogen and Ed Sheeran are fond of collecting trinkets and we’ve seen a few pieces from this collection in many of his live shows and pictures.
Coronavirus has changed almost everything about our life. This includes our shopping behavior as well. Shipping and delivering orders in these testing times is not safe, and therefore, the decision has been taken in public interest.
Is this going to affect Ed Sheeran and their family’s economic condition?
Unlikely. The reason why his mother started this company was to build a community with Ed’s fans. Not expecting any expansion or growth, it was all being done in goodwill. Commenting on why she started making these trinkets, Imogen said, “I started making jewelry after the funding was cut for a youth arts programme I was working for. I made some Liquorice Allsorts bracelets for Ed, to start with, and they went down very well.” The company has been making and selling pieces for nine years now and this is the first time they had to stop operations.
Ed Sheeran was recently declared as the richest UK musician, so we’re convinced that this roadblock is not going to affect him financially. As for the fans, this news could be upsetting since they can no longer place their orders anytime soon.
Ed is currently on a break from his world tour and is in quarantine with his wife Cherry Seaborn.
