Cruella is all set to hit the theaters and Disney+ Premiere Access on May 28th, and for its Premiere, Emma Stone walked in sporting Louis Vuitton for the occasion.
On Wednesday night, May 18, Disney staged the world premiere of Cruella at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. While the event was smaller in scope, keeping in mind COVID -19 safety protocols, walking the carpet was Emma Stone, along with co-star Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and director Craig Gillespie.
Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton
Starring as a young Cruella de Vil, Emma Stone owned the red carpet in a black and white Louis Vuitton power suit paired with a white tie-neck blouse. The leading lady carried a red Louis Vuitton box clutch and wore pieces from the fashion brand’s high jewelry collection.
True to the essence of her character, who is by far the most fashionable villains, Stone painted her nails ruby and added a deep crimson to her lip. Wondering how? Red is a favourite colour of Cruella de Vil’s.
For channeling a bright-eyed fashion designer in London amid the punk rock movement during the ’70s in the movie, Stone tried 40 outfit changes. Speaking about how “incredible” the experience was for her, Stone told ET, “[Costume designer] Jenny Beavan just had the time of her life. She kept saying this is how she dressed in the ’70s, this is what she knew.”
“It was the way that she built the world, these costumes, these women were just on another level entirely. It was just incredible,” she continued.
Emma Stone also spoke about some of her favourite fashion moments.
“I loved the garbage dress. Popping out of the garbage pile and then that extreme train, it was so, so cool. I thought that was gorgeous. It’s really hard to choose a favourite because they’re all so brilliant and so detailed-oriented.”
Cruella arrives in theaters on May 28, more than two months after Emma and Dave McCary welcomed their first child together.
Set in 1970s London amid the punk rock revolution, Cruella follows a young grifter named Estella, who is determined to make a name for herself in the world of fashion. While her talent catches the eye of the fashion legend Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side.
The film also stars Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Mark Strong.
