Gigi Hadid Takes Over As The ‘Next In Fashion’ Host From Alexa Chung

For the show’s second season, she will be joined by original host Tan France.

Season 2 of Netflix’s Next In Fashion will feature Gigi Hadid in place of Alexa Chung. The 26-year-old supermodel will co-host the upcoming season with Tan France, 38, of Queer Eye, who co-hosted the first season with Alexa, also 38.

“Who would have thought when we met over Facetime 4 years ago that we’d be hosting NEXT IN FASHION TOGETHER!” wrote Gigi Hadid and Tan France on Instagram on Monday. “You read that right!” their identical social media posts continued. “The secret’s out. You better get ready, casting is now open.”

Along with the news, the fashionistas shared a photo of themselves making a friendly display at a fashion event. Alexa hasn’t said anything about it yet.

In January 2020, Netflix released the first season of the fashion competition. A group of forward-thinking designers competed for a $250,000 cash award and the opportunity to showcase their collection with Net-a-Porter.

Tan revealed that there will not be a second season of Next In Fashion five months after the first season premiered on Netflix.

“We’re not doing a second season,” he told Variety at the time. “This is a one-season show, we don’t know what will happen in the future. But it was honestly one of the proudest things I’ve ever worked on. I love the show and Alexa so much,” he exclaimed.

“My focus is definitely on Queer Eye and moving forward with that,” Tan stated of his future intentions, despite having teased the idea of the show returning.

Minju Kim, a South Korean designer, was named the first season’s champion after defeating 17 other contenders.

She received the H&M Design Award before appearing on the show, and she has also designed clothing for Red Velvet, a K-Pop girl group, and BTS, a Korean boy band.

Her line debuted with Net-a-Porter, and she recently told the brand that being a part of the event taught her that she is “capable of anything.”

There’s no way of knowing when season two of Next In Fashion will be filmed, much less when it will premiere, because casting is still in progress. But, with Gigi Hadid on hand to impart her high-fashion wisdom to the current generation of participants, we can only hope that the remaining episodes of Next In Fashion live up to season one’s high standards. Perhaps Kerby Jean-Raymond will be reintroduced for some peak-drama.
