Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 Will Continue From Thor 4 Says Gunn

A god and a star-lord crossover?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 director James Gunn reveals exciting news about the new movie in a QnA. The director said according to the MCU timeline, Guardians of the Galaxy will pick up from Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie will continue off from Taika Waititi’s ending of Thor. Hence there will definitely be a connection between the two franchises.

“It takes place after Love and Thunder”, Gunn said.

Earlier James Gunn had also worked with Thor: Love and Thunder director to work on the script of the movie, so as to form a good connection between the two. He even told this on his social media.

“Not much, & @TaikaWaititi is doing a great job – the script is amazing. We talked before he started writing it about where the characters are & where they’re going & he read the script for Vol 3 & then I read his script & shared my thoughts.”

All we know about Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 and Thor: Love and Thunder

Gunn’s statement made a huge impact among the MCU fan as they had been curious after Avengers: Endgame about the timelines of these two separate franchises. As in the Endgame, we see the thunder god Thor leaving with the Guardians of the Galaxy for a space adventure. We also see that Gamora was dead, and a new Gamora, who had traveled from her past, has replaced her in the universe. Hence, the Guardians along with Thor embark on a journey to bring Gamora back as a gesture for saving the latter.

Zoe Saldana’s character Gamora is the sister of Karen Gillan’s character, Nebula, and is the daughter of the titan, Thanos. Both the directors have to be quite careful with her timeline as she cannot be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder as per the MCU. Her story should be continued in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The movie productions are reported to begin this year and they will be screened on May 5, 2023.

It is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2022.
