Olivia Wilde is back again with another movie and this time she is bringing the 1950s to the silver screens. The 38-year-old actress and filmmaker recently unveiled the first look for her psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” featuring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh at CinemaCon.
What do we know of Don’t Worry Darling from its trailer?
The movie theatre owners at the annual exhibition trade show got a first glimpse at the trailer of the upcoming movie which hasn’t yet been made public. According to reports, the short video opens with Harry Styles and Florence Pugh’s characters snuggling in bed. The “As It Was” singer and the “Midsommar” actress play the role of a husband and wife living in an idyllic experimental community in the California desert ornamented beautifully with palm trees and fancy cars.
“You and me?” asks Pugh’s character to her husband. “Always. You and me,” comes the reply.
Florence Pugh plays the role of a happy wife who becomes increasingly suspicious of her husband’s extravagant company that may be hiding dark secrets behind its picture-perfect public image. From the trailer, we know that the husband played by Styles is working on the “Victory Project” whose real intentions are not known. However, it promises to change the world.
“Do you even know what the Victory Project even is? Have you ever asked?” asks Pugh’s character to her husband. However, her world turns upside down the more she starts getting curious about it and questioning her husband. In the end she tearfully concludes, “I don’t trust him, and I don’t want to be here anymore.”

Olivia Wilde, opened up to the audience about her idea behind the film on stage at Caesars Palace where CinemaCon is taking place. She said that “Don’t Worry Darling” is inspired by “Inception,” “The Matrix” and “The Truman Show.” She described the movie as “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of our imagination.”
“I want you to imagine a life where you have everything you could want,” she said to the crowd. “Not just material, tangible things… like a beautiful house, perfect weather and gorgeous cars. But also the things that really matter, like true love or the perfect partner or real trusted friendships and a purpose that feels meaningful,” she continued.
“What would it take for you to give up that life, that perfect life. What are you really willing to sacrifice to do what’s right? Are you willing to dismantle the system that’s designed to serve you?” she added. She also praised Harry Styles and Florence Pugh who play the main characters in her movie. Describing Styles’ she said that the pop idol is “an up-and-coming actor with no other career that I am aware of, and he is nothing short of a revelation in this part.”
Speaking of Pugh, she said that the actress is “brilliant, sexy, fierce and tough.” “We knew this movie would live or die off her role,” she added.

The cast of Don’t Worry Darling also includes Wilde, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne and Nick Kroll. Katie Silberman wrote the screenplay of the movie taking inspiration from a spec script by Carey and Shane Van Dyke.
