Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge team up!

The 26-year-old pop artist is already on a roll this year. Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the Fleabag creator, have dropped their new music video for Harry’s song, ‘Treat People With Kindness’ which features in his second solo record, “Fine Line”.

Harry Styles And Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s New Music Video

The video features  Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge dancing together in a glitzy nightclub, with Harry in the more traditionally female role, symbolizing the singer’s journey towards shattering gender roles and stereotypes.

The video shows Phoebe in the role of a nightclub owner, dressed in a full white suit and vest, sitting at the desk and greeting a member of her team. The scene then shifts to Harry walking on stage in a sparkly jacket while taking on the traditional role of a female club singer. As the music comes in, Harry shows off his dance moves while Phoebe twirls and dances her way down to the club, at the same time enjoying a martini.

By the end of the video, Phoebe dips Harry before turning her face towards the camera showing off one of her infamous ‘Fleabag’-type look.

Reactions on the music video

Gabe Turner, the video’s co-director also tweeted his excitement about the video finally dropping on Friday, “ Didn’t realize how lucky we were to experience this at the time! Harry & Phoebe – an absolute career highlight! Fitting that it goes out today hoping that in 2021 we can return to some kind of normal. #TPWK”. He revealed that the video was shot at the beginning of 2020.

The video has gained almost half a million views in its first two hours itself, and fans have applauded Harry’s dance skills, Phoebe’s appearance, and overall the message the video sends out.

Comments like, “Thank you for waking up in this way and starting 2021 like this”, “Harry styles dancing on the first day of 2021? Instantly making the year better” flooded the comment section.

The video’s subtle message

Fans also talked about and praised Harry’s attempt to reconstruct traditional gender roles in his music video. One fan commented, “Harry broke every stereotype! Wore clothes which don’t have a gender, and the man was dipped instead of the woman!!”

This video is also a clapback to all those who criticized Harry Styles last year for choosing to wear female clothing in an issue of Vogue’s US rendition. Sometime around the end of last year, Harry Styles posed for Variety Magazine’s 2020 Hitmakers’ Issue, where he talked about the same.

“To not wear [something] because it’s females’ clothing, you shut off a whole world of great clothes. And I think what’s exciting about right now is you can wear what you like. It doesn’t have to be X or Y. Those lines are becoming more and more blurred,” Harry told Variety.

The pop singer also openly mocked Candace Owens whose comments about bringing back ‘manly men’ in reaction to Harry’s Vogue cover stirred an uproar and created a major controversy.

But either way, Harry Styles and Phoebe Waller-Bridge did a pretty good job on their music video, and Phoebe deserves every bit of appraisal for her direction skills, whereas Harry Styles has already won millions of his fans’ hearts.
