The Kissing Booth 3 is finally out on Netflix and it’s the second movie in a row that exes Jacob Elordi and Joey King had to film together since their breakup. However, the good news is that there is no bad blood between exes here!
Paying tribute to their chemistry, on Wednesday, August 11, Jacob Elordi shared some never-before-seen snaps from the set.
The Euphoria star, 24, posted a series of snaps via Instagram Story on Tuesday, August 10, of his Netflix costars, including Joel Courtney, Joshua Eady and ex-girlfriend Joey King. While the photo has since expired, it has been reposted to several Jacob fan accounts. The Australian native added the caption, “And one from the start @joeyking.” He continued, “Thank you all of you,” alongside a red heart emoji.
The Life in Pieces alum also reflected on her time filming the three teen movies, sharing two photos from the set.
“My first time at the booth, and my last time. 5 years apart,” she captioned her Instagram post on Wednesday. “Thank you Elle, I’ve loved being you. And thank you to everyone who had a hand in making these movies what they are. The Kissing Booth 3 is now streaming on Netlfix. ❤️ The end of an era, excuse me while I go sob in a corner somewhere.” King also tagged most of her costars’ handles, including Elordi’s.
Since their split after the first Kissing Booth movie, it’s natural to have fans wonder why did Joey King and Jacob Elordi break up and how did they manage to film two more movies together.
The onscreen couple met on the set of the first flick in 2017, which followed the love story of Elle Evans a quirky, late-blooming teenager who’s never been kissed, and Noah Flynn, a bad boy high school senior and the older brother of Elle’s best friend, Lee.
King previously told Seventeen in June 2018 that there wasn’t “one moment” that made her realize she liked her leading man.
“Was it love at first sight? Well, I thought he was very cute when we first met, but it started as a friendship,” she said at the time. “Right away we were talking about gross things with each other (laughing). But before long I started to realize, ‘Hey, I think I kind of like this person!’ It was such an interesting experience meeting your boyfriend on set because you spend so much time together and become so close so fast. We were spending 17 hours a day together, and all of us would hang out after work and watch movies together and stuff. It was great.”
The two went Instagram official in April 2017. However, their romance ended in November 2018 after which the former couple later reunited to film the sequel, which premiered in July 2020.
In an interview, the Act alum, Joey King, told Cosmopolitan in her September 2020 cover story that “no one’s thinking to themselves, ‘That was easy,’ because it wasn’t. I’m sure people will analyze every moment and every detail. And you know what? Let them. … Elle Evans needs her Noah Flynn, and whatever that means for my personal life, I’ll do anything to make sure the story of my character who I care about so much is complete.”
It’s unclear why Joey King and Jacob Elordi broke up, but all is well between the two now. They have moved on from their past and have new partners. Elordi is dating model Kaia Gerber, while King is dating producer Steven Piet whom she worked with on Hulu’s The Act.
