Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed the affair with singer August Alsina on her talk show with Will Smith. As of last week, the actress had announced that she would be bringing herself to the Red Table for some “Healing”.
Now on the “Red Table Talk” with her husband, Will Smith, she admitted to having the affair during a difficult period in their marriage. “there’s a healing that needs to happen.” said the 48-year old actress on deciding to address the controversy.
The couple claimed they were “privately separated” at the time of the affair. They said that their relationship with August Alsina was largely to get him the medical attention he needed. And the actress admitted being drawn to people in need. This was what led to her “a different kind of entanglement” with the R&B Singer.
“It all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state,” she explained to Will Smith. And she also added that both of them “were going through a very difficult time.”
“I just wanted to feel good, it had been so long since I felt good … and it was really a joy to just help heal somebody.” Admitted Jada Pinkett
“I was done with you” Will Smith added with regard to their separation at the time of the affair.
Above all, this talk came after August Alsina’s claims that Will Smith gave the affair his blessing. The actor denied this with his wife.
“The only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself ,” added the ‘Bad Moms’ actress about the affair. “But what August was probably trying to communicate because I could see how he could see it as permission because we were separated amicably, and I think he wanted to make it clear he’s not a home-wrecker because he’s not.”
About her now confirmed affair, She told husband, Will Smith, that she was at the time “broken”. “We did everything we could to get away from each other, only to realize that’s not possible,”
Will, towards the end of the interview, told his wife ” “I’m gonna get you back first.”
“I actually don’t look at it as a transgression at all. Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was really able to confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity — and I was really able to do some really deep healing.” said the actress in response to Will Smith’s joke about the “Transgressions”
In addition, the couple fist-bumped and said “We ride together, we die together. Bad marriage for life” quoting Will Smith’s Bad Boys Franchise.
Singer August Alsina stopped all communication with them once the couple were back together. After the affair was confirmed, the Smith’s also reconfirmed their commitment to one another calling it a place of “unconditional love”
