Jedward calls out Simon Cowell
Twins and music duo, John and Edward Grimes, more popularly known as Jedward, have spoken up against X-Factor judge Simon Cowell and his label, Syco Entertainment, in a series of Twitter rants on Monday, April 5.
The twins, 29-year-old, took to Twitter to express their anger and disappointment towards how not only them but also other artists like Little Mix and One Direction had been mistreated by Simon Cowell and his label.
“The Biggest regret in life was not telling the judges on Xfactor to f–k off ❤️,” they said. “Every contestant on the Xfactor was a slave to the show and got paid Zero while they made millions!”
Jedward went on to call out Simon Cowell, 61, in the next few tweets.
“The fact that every contestant has to act like their judge mentors them! When in reality all they care about is their pay check!” continued the boys. “Simon Cowell thinks he’s the Mafia leader of the music industry when in reality he’s nothing but a bad facelift ❤️.” This is in reference to the fact that the multimillionaire record executive admitted to having undergone surgery before his 60th birthday, according to Daily Star.
Jedward also added that “There’s a reason Syco is called Psycho! 1D and Little Mix are legally f–-d in contracts and can never speak out so we are!”
Jedward ended their rant with, This isn’t our story to tell! It’s an insight of how corrupt the music industry is! We’re sending courage & strength to all artists being f—d over! It ends now”
Fans’ reaction to their angry rant
Jedward’s call out of Simon Cowell got mixed reactions from others. While some were totally in favour of the twins, a few others thought that they could’ve done better than this series of bitter rants.
One fan said, “Come on guys, you’re better than these remarks.” While another added, “But with all due respect, where would you be without the show, love it or hate it, it’s a huge platform.”
Someone else wrote, “Shots fired at Simon Cowell.” While another fan commented, “This is turning into a very good night on Twitter.”
Jedward’s rise to fame and the ever-present beef with Simon Cowell
Jedward started gaining attention from X-Factor fans after the pair first appeared on the show in 2009 and flaunted their gravity-defying flamboyant hair. Although they did make it to the live finals, they stepped down from the competition ranking in sixth place. Jedward has called out Simon Cowell previously as well, accusing him of ‘deleting their legacy’ after their debut single was snubbed from all major music streaming services.
