Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield have donned an incognito look for their upcoming drama, “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”.
It has not even been a year since Andrew Garfield changed his look and performed strange stunts for the romance-drama “Mainstream”, and now he is back to shock people with the help of his co-star Jessica Chastain in their new flick, “The Eyes of Tammy”.
The upcoming movie will see the two stars play the role of the influential couple Tammy Faye (Jessica Chastain) and Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield). The trailer that dropped yesterday has left fans with their mouths wide open in awe of the phenomenal prosthetic work done on the actors.
A Twitter user wrote, “Wow, oh my god, is that Andrew Garfield on the left?!?? And Jessica Chastain on the right!!?!? Nigh unrecognizable!!!!”
What is the plot of the upcoming drama “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”?
The Michael Showalter directed movie “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” will depict the rise and fall of the controversial couple from the 1970s, Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker, who were multi-millionaire televangelists known for their “PTL club” program.
After reaching the height of their fame, Jim Bakker got involved in a s** scandal, which paired with the discovery of his and Tammy’s financial fraud, led to the cancelation of their show in 1987.
A year later, Jim Bakker was charged with eight counts of mail fraud, fifteen counts of wire fraud, and also a count of conspiracy, while his wife, Tammy Faye, was not charged with anything. After Jim was found guilty of all charges, he was sentenced to 45-years in prison and had to pay a fine of $500,000 dollars.
Jessica Chastain recently took to her Instagram to share the first look of “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”. In the reveal post she also penned a letter describing her feelings towards the real Tammy Faye.
“I found a video of her singing a song, and she turned to the camera and said, ‘God loves you just the way you are’. Whatever God means to anyone.”
She also wrote about the morals, which she hopes viewers to learn after watching the drama.
“I’ve never been baptized. I didn’t grow up within a church, but I do believe in unconditional love. We are all part of this world, part of humanity and part of grace. No matter where you come from, you are perfect, and you are fully and unconditionally loved. And that’s what I hope people leave the theater knowing.”
