2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, and even Johnny Depp had a taste of its misery. However, regular court visits and losing so many major projects hasn’t brought down his spirits. As new years eve is close by, the widely admired actor took to Instagram to wish his fans ‘Happy Holidays on a positive note.
”This year has been so hard for so many,” Depp wrote, beneath a black and white picture of him with the lead singer of Pogues, Shane MacGowan. The throwback picture shows him having a good time with MacGowan and ironically, he added in the caption ”Here’s to a better time ahead. Happy Holidays, everyone!”
He ended his sweet message with ”My love and respect to you all. Eternally, JD. X.”
The post comes not long after Johnny Depp’s lawyers filed for a new trial in Britain’s court of appeal after being denied for reconsideration in Mr. Justice Nicol’s ruling in November.
Depp’s barrister, David Sherborne, and his legal team claimed that Mr. Justice Nicol ‘just accepted everything Ms. Heard said, however implausible and however inconsistent with the documents’ so they will proceed by requesting the court to ‘set aside the judgment and order a new trial’.
The lost trial was preceded by Johnny Depp filing a defamation lawsuit against The Sun magazine’s publishers for calling him a ”wife-beater” in one of their articles. Ex-wife Amber Heard was a witness at the court.
Earlier in November, the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor had made it clear via an Instagram post that he won’t back down and ”the surreal judgment of the court in the U.K will not change [his] fight to tell the truth.” The post also confirmed his resignation from his role as Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts Franchise as he added, “My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
We do hope things get better for him hereafter, or are they getting better already? Depp fans are not too happy with his ex-wife Amber Heard in the light of recent events. While Depp has the support of the majority, Heard is being criticized all over social media.
In Access’s exclusive interview, a snippet of which was shared on YouTube titled ”Amber Heard’s 2020 Takeaway: ‘Adapt and Survive’, she says, ”The more you survive, the better you are at making the changes internally, the better you have a chance of not just surviving but thriving.” The video wasn’t taken too well by viewers as it has now amassed about 300k dislikes in contrast with just 2.6k likes.
The video also has comments in unison, referring to Heard’s leaked audio tape in which she says, ‘‘Tell the world Johnny, tell them, I, Johnny Depp, a man, I’m a victim too of domestic violence… and see how many people believe or side with you.” Well, Ouch.
