Justin Bieber secures No.1 position on Billboard 200 chart for the second nonconsecutive week
Justin Bieber is once again ruling the music industry, as his album ‘Justice’ reaches the No.1 position on the Billboard 200 chart. And this week marks the 2nd nonconsecutive week for this album’s top position. On April 3rd, Justin’s album ‘justice’ reached the no.1 position for the first time and was later pushed down by Rod Wave’s ‘SoulFly’. However, this week again Justice reached at the top and ‘SoulFly’ acquired the No.3 position. No. 2 positions on the Billboard 200 chart is secured by Demi Lovato’s album ‘Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over’.
This is also the first time in over 10 years that a Justin Bieber album has secured the No.1 position in the Billboard for multiple weeks. Although the ‘Lonely’ singer has various other albums that reached the top but not for multiple weeks. The Top 5 albums of this week’s Billboard 200 chart also includes Morgan Wallen’s ‘Dangerous: The Double Album’ at No. 4 and Lil Tjay’s ‘Destined 2 Win’ at No. 5.
The Billboard 200 chart assigns the positions to these albums on the basis of equivalent album units. These units include album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and track equivalent albums (TEA). Justice earned around 75,000 equivalent album units at the end of the third week, out of which, 67,000 came from SEA units, 6,000 from album sales, and 2,000 from TEA units. That is how Justin Bieber got to keep his No.1 position in the Billboard 200 chart this week as well.
On the other hand, Demi Lovato’s ‘Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over’ earned 74,000 equivalent album units at the end of the third week, out of which, 38,000 comprise album sales, 33,000 comprise SEA units, and 2,000 comprise TEA units, thus making it the top second album on the Billboard 200 chart this week as well. ‘Dancing With the Devil also marks Demi’s highest-charting album since her 2015 album ‘Confident.’ Demi Lovato’s album was also accompanied by a 4 episode documentary on Demi’s life, which dropped on youtube on 23 March 2020.
And that is not it for Justin Bieber’s success this week. Justin’s latest song ‘Peaches’ featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon has recently secured the No. 2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 after starting up with the No.1 position on April 3rd. Some other top albums of this week include The Weeknd’s “The Highlights” at No.6, and Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” at No. 9 as well.
