Justin Bieber and mental health: Singer opens up about suicidal thoughts
“There was times where I was really, really suicidal. Like, man is this pain ever going to go away? It was so consistent; the pain was so consistent. I was just suffering, right? So, I’m just like, man, I would rather not feel this than feel this” said the ‘Sorry’ singer in this documentary. Further, he added, “I had no idea that this life would take me by storm. I had no idea that I would just get sucked up by all of this stuff.” That’s how mental health conditions started to deteriorate for Justin Bieber. He confessed that “There was times where I was really, really suicidal.”
One of the biggest things that helped Justin Bieber take care of his mental health and fight an uphill battle was his faith. Commenting on the same, he said, “I’d rather get away than to be in this cycle. Now, I just have hope in my relationship with God. That’s not based on fear. It’s not based on my past. It’s based on who I truly am.”Adding to that, professional help including therapy and support from his family and friends helped him recover from that dark phase of life. He is now doing better and also said that “The last 8 months have been a time for growth. Happy and healthy.”
Justin Bieber advocates for mental wellbeing and encourages taking help
JB also gave a very special message to the ones who are struggling to balance their mental wellbeing. He said,“I just would encourage people, like, ‘Hey, if you’re feeling lonely, talk about it. Say it out loud.’ There’s a freedom in that. I could have avoided a lot of pain.”
