As we all know, the Grammys 2021 was a grand success and was also greatly celebrated. The awards were opened by Harry Styles and there were huge performances by music stars like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Megan Thee Stallion, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone. The event was also a big victory for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift who broke records with their records. It surely was a showcase and achievement of pure talent. But sure our beloved Justin Bieber was nowhere to be seen.
Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber who debuted with ‘My World’ 2.0 in 2010 has become one of the most popular stars of Hollywood ever since.
Bieber, who was only 16 years of age when his first album came out, has been on the rising side always. The entire world watched him grow up, face his ups and downs. He wasn’t always the perfect role model for his fans but he’s only human. His first hit song “baby” topped the US Billboard making Justin Bieber stand with a net worth of $ 285 million.
Why was Justin Bieber missing from the Grammys 2021?
According to Justin’s Instagram, he stayed home for a lazy Sunday watching Tom Holland portray Nico Walker, an army medic who struggles with substance addiction in Cherry. It was released on Friday, 26th February in theaters and debuted on streaming services on Friday 12th March. The fans have been consistently praising and supporting Tom Holland for his representation of Nico. Bieber watching Holland’s film is no coincidence. They have been reported to be ‘bros’ even though they haven’t met in person but have spoken well about one and another. Apparently, they are each other’s fans!
Justin Bieber was nominated for the below-mentioned four categories in the Grammys 2021.
Best pop vocal album (for 10,000 Hours)
Best pop duo/group performance (for Intentions)
Best country duo/group performance (for 10,000 Hours)
Best pop solo performance (for Yummy)
Where he won the Best country duo/group performance with his collaborators Dan+Shay
In spite of his nominations, he chose to stay home getting cozy and comfy enjoying his bro’s movie. Bieber was already not set tight with the Recording Academy due to his album ‘Changes’ not being recognized as an R&B album. He said,” I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said I set out to make an R&B album.” When asked, Recording Academy Chair and Interim President/CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said, “We always want to respect the artist’s wishes, Art’s a funny thing because it’s so subjective, and at the Academy our goal is to honour excellence.” All things aside, Cherry is a must-watch and some believe that the apt portrayal of Tom Holland might even fetch him an Academy Award nomination.
