On Wednesday, Britney presented herself in front of the court virtually and gave a strong statement against her conservatorship. The singer revealed the distressing details of what her life has been like for the past 13 years.
Following this, many celebs took to social media to express their support and demand freedom for her.
Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake voiced his support for her
“After what we saw today, we should all be supporting Britney at this time,” began Justin Timberlake in a tweet. “Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body.”
His tweet came as Britney revealed the extent to which her conservators were going to prevent her from having more children.
“No one should EVER be held against their will,” he wrote in a follow-up tweet. “or ever have to ask permission to access everything they’ve worked so hard for.”
The Mirrors singer ended his tweets with a message on behalf of himself and his wife, Jessica Biel. “Jess and I send our love, and our absolute support to Britney during this time. We hope the courts, and her family make this right and let her live however she wants to live.”
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears dated from 1999 to 2002.
He recently even publicly apologized after the New York Times documentary Framing Britney Spears came out — it showed how their relationship ended and how Justin portrayed Britney in a bad light with his song Cry Me a River.
Soon after their breakup, Justin even made a few revelations about Britney — that did not sit well with her or her fans.
He wrote on social media this February, “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn or did not speak up for what was right.”
“I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.”
Khloe Kardashian, Halsey, Andy Cohen, and more spoke in support of the songstress
Besides Justin Timberlake, many others spoke out against Britney Spears’ conservatorship.
Khloe Kardashian tweeted, “No one should be treated like this. Stay strong Queen!! You deserve better.”
“Bless Britney and I hope with my whole heart she is awarded freedom from this abusive system,” tweeted Halsey. “She deserves it more than anything. I admire her courage speaking up for herself today.”
In a subsequent tweet, she added how no one should have control over a person’s reproductive health.
Andy Cohen, Sarah Jessica Parker showed their support by tweeting #FreeBritney.
“We love you Britney!!! Stay strong,” tweeted Mariah Carey.
