Kanye West, 43, is proceeding with his divorce with estranged wife Kim Kardashian,40, and has submitted a response to the divorce papers she had filed two months ago.
According to the legal response file attained by PEOPLE, Kanye West has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children North,7, Saint,5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, who is to turn 2 in May.
Kanye West has also made a request to terminate the court’s right to award spousal support for either person- notably after Kim was recently declared a billionaire by Forbes. Both their attorneys had earlier stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian started dating in 2012 and tied the knot on May 24, 2014.
Kim Kardashian had filed for divorce from her rapper husband in February after nearly seven years together. At the time, the couple were ready to make a settlement as they were negotiating on the prenup.
The couple’s marriage hit a rocky road last year with almost a divorce in sight, before they reconnected and spent some private time together with their children. Later in January, it was reported that Kim has appointed a high-profile divorce attorney Laura Wasser as she weighed in her options amid the split.
Kim Kardashian is, however, still residing in the $60 million Hidden Hills mansion she shared with Kanye, while he has been back and forth between L.A and his ranch in Wyoming.
“Kim plans on staying at the Hidden Hills house with the kids. This is their home and Kim doesn’t want to move right now at least,” an insider to PEOPLE detailed. “They both agree that the less stress the kids experience, the better. Kanye loves his kids. He wants them to be happy,” the source continued. “He doesn’t want to fight with Kim about anything.”
A source close to Kanye had previously revealed that the 22-time Grammy winning rapper “isn’t happy,” but “resigned to reality” after Kardashian filed for divorce. “He knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier,” the source stated at the time. “This is a somber day for him.”
