That Kanye West suffers from bipolar disorder is public knowledge and it seems like the rapper is currently having a fit of emotions.
TMZ reported that “Kanye West is in the throes of a serious bipolar episode,”. His mental health is worrisome for his family, which was also taken aback by his comments on social media last week.
“He suffers a serious bout with his bipolar disorder, usually once a year … and our sources say Kanye’s in the midst of one now,” TMZ added. His family believes he will recover and things will stabilise as they have before, but his actions seem to be getting a little out of hand this time.
Kanye West’s big announcement that he’s running for President took over the Internet. This was followed by an incoherent interview with Forbes, where Kanye West declared his party’s name was the ‘Birthday Party’, “because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.” He further revealed he had contracted the Coronavirus in February, that he’d never voted in his entire life and that his vision for the White House was to base it on the country “Wakanda” from Black Panther.
The conversation made it clear that Kanye had no campaign memo yet and his only advisors at that moment were wife Kim Kardashian and billionaire Elon Musk. He reassured people that the decision to enter politics certainly wasn’t a publicity stunt for his next album God’s Country, because he practically gives his “album away for free.”
The 43-year-old’s comments have sparked concerns about his mental health and the idea that his bid for President was a spur-of-the-moment decision seems quite plausible.
Kanye West has publicly admitted that he was hospitalised in 2016, and was subsequently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He called his condition a “superpower” in his song Yikes.
In 2018, Kanye came on TMZ Live and said he had stopped taking his medication, probably because it was hindering his creativity as he had claimed before. Then, during a visit to the White House, he claimed he had been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and was only sleep deprived.
Meanwhile, Kanye West’s surprise candidacy for the 2020 elections wasn’t received very well, and the father of four has become the subject of ridicule. Is Kanye West the next in line to join the ranks of George Washington, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama? Only time will tell (November 3, mark the date)
