Kanye West isn’t over making controversial moves. At his latest “DONDA listening party” at Chicago’s Soldier Field on Thursday night, the rapper had various surprises in store for fans.
For starters, the rapper brought out Marilyn Manson, who has been accused of sexual abuse by multiple women, along with fellow rapper DaBaby, also embroiled in controversy. The trio stood on a faux house stoop under a large cross where West’s new song “Hurricane,” featuring DaBaby, played as well as another song titled “Jail.”
After the event, a rep for West confirmed to Billboard that Manson’s voice will be featured on the upcoming album.
West then set himself on fire in a blazingly bizarre stunt that, thankfully, was just that: a stunt.
The fireworks happened at the end while the rapper stood in front of a replica of his childhood home that was used to symbolize his upbringing with his beloved late mom, Donda West. He emerged from the house and walked around in a fire-resistant suit until a stagehand doused him with a red extinguisher that had been sitting next to the house for the entire evening.
During this stun, black and white footage and photo collages of his mother beamed onto a huge screen, while the word Donda was repeated.
Fans shared footage and screenshots of the moment on social media, expressing their surprise and awe. Apple Music posted a gif of West sitting down while on fire.
And the moment that shook fans was Kim Kardashian’s presence.
Kim may have filed for divorce from West in February, but this did not stop her from attending the latest “listening party” for her soon-to-be-ex husband Kanye West’s new album Donda.
Kim Kardashian wore her wedding dress, the Balenciaga wedding gown as she came out on the stage during the final song “No Child Left Behind.” The couple’s four children were also in attendance for the event.
Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner shared images of the moment on social media.
“Damn…… I’ve never seen anything this sick!!!!! 👑🐐🙏🏽,” wrote Khloe. “🤍🤍🤍🤍👑👑insanely beautiful!!!”
Similarly, fans on Twitter were floored to see Kim Kardashian appear onstage at Kanye’s third Donda listening party in a wedding dress. This big moment from the Donda event prompted fans to speculate that the pair could be getting back together.
Kim Kardashian was also spotted holding Kanye West’s hand while leaving the “Famous” rapper’s “Donda” listening party in Chicago. In July, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star showed up to West’s first “Donda” event in Atlanta, matching his all-red Yeezy outfit in a Rick Owens jumpsuit. She then brought the couple’s kids — in matching black outfits — to a second “Donda” event earlier this month.
An insider told E! News earlier this week that Kardashian doesn’t even have plans to drop “West” from her legal name “because West is the kids’ last name.”
“It makes it easier and not confusing for them,” the source added. “They are always going to be a family and family unit. She feels like it’s in the kids’ best interest to all have the same last name.”
The release of Donda has been delayed multiple times. A tentative release date of 3 September has currently been set.
West’s mother was an English professor at Chicago State University who died aged 58 in 2007 after complications from cosmetic surgery. Her death had a devastating impact on her Grammy-winning son.
