It seems like things are escalating fast in Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce.
Hours before she filed for divorce on February 19, Kim K was spotted leaving a friend’s house in LA. The makeup mogul looked her fashionable best wearing a beige top, blue glossy pants, and black jacket, but what truly caught the eye was her empty ring finger.
While Kim Kardashian has ditched her wedding band and ring, Kanye West was spotted wearing his gold wedding band upon his return to California from his Wyoming ranch.
What caused Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce?
Talks of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce had been doing the rounds ever since the rapper announced that he’s running for President in July 2020. Some very controversial conferences and tweets followed that further put Kim and Kanye’s marriage on the rocks.
“He thinks that the Presidential run was the straw that broke the camel’s back,” a source told People about their separation. “Before that, there was hope. After that, none. It cost him his marriage.”
In January this year, speculations of their split became widespread and it was reported that the couple had been living separately since quite some months.
An insider told US Weekly that the decision to file for divorce was mutual and amicable. “This really was done amicably. The filing wasn’t a surprise to either of them; both knew it was coming.”
“There is no one person who is exiting the marriage. They both just grew apart from each other,” they added. “They both wanted to make the marriage work — that’s why they put this off for so long.”
Meanwhile, another source told the entertainment portal that Kim and Kanye first hit a major rough patch in their marriage in 2018, when the Gold Digger singer called slavery “a choice” in an interview with TMZ.
“The turning point in Kim and Kanye’s marriage was when he said that slavery was a choice,” they said. “They went through a really rough patch in the aftermath of that. Kim was completely mortified by Kanye’s ridiculous and outrageous comments.”
“It took a lot for them to move past it, but they were able to eventually. But when Kanye told the world that he and Kim had discussed aborting North [in July 2020], it was the breaking point in their marriage.”
Clearly, a multiplicity of issues contributed to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce.
