Maisie Williams Launches New Podcast That Brings Together Women And Films

What an interesting idea!

Maisie Williams has launched her podcast series Frank Film Club. The podcast will take a deep dive into films and cinema through the lens of four young women of the industry.

The 24-year-old never fails to surprise us with her initiatives, and this one is no different.

All about Maisie William’s new podcast

Announcing the podcast on Instagram last week, Maisie Williams explained the intent behind it. “Frank Film Club (in a nutshell) is a film club for people who love films but get flustered when asked to articulate why – anything goes and everyone’s welcome!”

The podcast will see the four women hosts come together to watch a film and then discuss it at length. “A podcast with four women who work in film, talking about films,” its official Instagram page says. “Sometimes we love ‘em, sometimes we hate ‘em, sometimes… we don’t know w** we just watched.”

“From shots and edits to casting and score, we unpack little-known indies, box office smashes, documentaries, foreign language and everything in between. Join us – Maisie, Chloe, Hannah and Lowri – twice a week, every week – anything goes and everyone’s welcome!”

The podcast was developed because of the lack of space for film viewers to discuss their thoughts uninhibitedly. Moreover, it provides women a platform where they can speak freely.

“We really wanted to make a space where there’s no pressure to speak about film in a certain way, where we could be ourselves and enjoy the freedom of the discussion”, Williams said of the podcast.

Frank Film Club is a place where you didn’t have to study film to have an opinion. We’re so grateful and excited to share it with listeners everywhere.”

Its first episode came out yesterday

The first episode of Frank Film Club came out yesterday and is available on Spotify. It has the four women discussing the BAFTA award-winning Rocks, which was chosen by Hannah. Meanwhile, the next episode’s film is Grey Gardens (1975).

Besides these, season 1 will also cover movies like Pixar’s Soul, Boots Riley’s Sorry To Bother You, and Ridley Scott’s Thelma And Louise.

Maisie Williams’ podcast is certainly interesting. It’ll be fun to relive movies and to hear the women’s take on them.
