Entertainment website The Sun reported, based on a source close to them, that Mariah Carey quit Roc Nation after Jay Z and Carey had an ‘explosive’ meeting in which they discussed the future of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ singer’s career behind closed doors. The source also reports that Mariah Carey is planning to leave the management company in the coming weeks as a formal departure.
Roc Nation is management company/full-service agency that was found by Jay Z in 2008.
The source said –
“Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.”
“She will formally depart in the next few weeks.”
“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.”
The source further continued, explaining that the ‘explosive’ argument between Mariah Carey and Jay Z led to Carey finding another manager who has ‘full belief in her’-
“Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps,” the source said.
Mariah Carey had signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation management company in 2017, years after firing her former manager Stella Bulochnikov
There is, however, a new Mariah Carey album and live show performances coming up! The singer-songwriter is set to release an R&B album. The source close to the Sun said-
“There is a heavily R&B influenced album being finalized at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way.”
In contrast to the story reported by The Sun’s source, a source close to the pair told The Mirror the same story but with things ending on a good note between Mariah Carey and Jay Z-
“Mariah’s relationship with Roc Nation ended courteously and she & Jay-Z are on great terms. Mariah is currently represented at Range where her former Roc Nation manager is a Managing Partner.”
