Matt Damon spent two weeks in quarantine at a lavish Byron Bay mansion upon his arrival in Australia.
Matt Damon, along with his wife Luciana Barroso and their three daughters spent almost 14 days at the luxurious European style home in Knockrow, just outside of Byron Bay, ahead of filming Thor: Love And Thunder.
The eight-bedroom Byron Bay mansion, which was home to Matt Damon and his family, is named Chateau Du Soleil. The regal location costs around $7000 a night, as per Airbnb, making the total stay of two weeks cost around a whopping $100,000. The extravagant mansion has as a swimming pool, tennis court, manicured gardens, wine cooler and sweeping ocean views.
Matt Damon reached Australia in a private jet on January 17. He stated he was “so excited” to be coming back after the long time he spent there back in 2019. “I’m so excited that my family and I will be able to call Australia home for the next few months.” He added, “ Australian film crews are world-renowned for their professionalism and are a joy to work with so the 14 days of quarantine will be well worth it.”
After spending their time in quarantine, Matt Damon and his family stepped out of their Byron Bay mansion on Sunday to head to the Lennox Head, near Byron Bay with the Hemsworth family– Elsa Pataky and twins Tristan and Sasha. Chris Hemsworth was missing from the outing as he is busy shooting for Thor: Love and Thunder which is being filmed in Sydney.
Pictures from the outing show, Matt Damon dressed in a white T-shirt and khaki cargo shorts with a pair of black sunglasses and Australian flip-flops. Elsa and Luciana were spotted strolling around the park barefoot as they enjoyed a lively conversation, while Matt spent time playing with both his and Elsa’s children in the playground.
The Thor: Love and Thunder has begun its shooting in Sydney. It will boast a thrilling cast, with Byron Bay resident Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt and Christian Bale. It will be directed by New Zealand director Taika Waititi.
Matt Damon had played a short role in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 where he cameoed as an actor playing Loki in a stage play in Asgard. Matt Damon may return for a more significant role this time.
Thor: Love And Thunder is the fourth Thor movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
