Met Gala 2022 is round the corner, and fans can expect the celebrity event this year to continue its tradition of celebrating fashion at its very finest on Monday, May 2. Read on to find out more about fashion’s biggest night of the year.
How to watch and live stream Met Gala 2022
Traditionally held on the first Monday in May, the fashion-forward fête will take place on Monday, May 2 this year. Vogue will be livestreaming the red carpet arrivals starting at 6 p.m. ET, taking place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The gala will also be broadcast across digital platforms, like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
What is this year’s theme?
This year’s theme is “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” following 2021’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
It’s based on a two-part exhibition from the museum, the second installation of which will “reflect the evolution of American style” and also “explore the work of individual tailors, dressmakers, and designers,” as the Costume Institute’s head curator, Andrew Bolton, told Vogue.
Who is on the guest list?
While Vogue keeps its guest list top secret until just before the big event, Megan Thee Stallion, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, and other major names are expected to make it to the event. However, tabloids favorite these days, Zendaya, will be missing Met Gala 2022 for reasons already explained.
What is the dress code?
One of the most awaited surprises, this year, the gala is all about “gilded glamour,” as the event “will ask its attendees to embody the grandeur — and perhaps the dichotomy — of Gilded Age New York,” according to Vogue. Think any ensemble that emphasizes the wealth disparity in America.
Who is hosting?
The biggest fashion night will be chaired by the husband-wife duo of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds along with actress Regina King and actor-singer-playwright and director Lin-Manuel Miranda. Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Anna Wintour will serve as the honorary chairs.
