Michael B. Jordan will be the lead and director of the third installment of ‘Creed’
Michael B. Jordan is all ready to make his directorial debut through the third instalment of his very famous movie franchise “Creed“. On Wednesday, MGM announced the release date of Creed 3 on thanksgiving, Nov. 23, 2022. Last year during some interviews, Jordon’s co-star Tessa Thompson and one of the film producers Irwin Winkler left a few hints pointing towards Michael direction Creed 3.
Irwin said, “I cannot overstate how thrilled we are to have Michael directing the third film in the Creed series, His commitment to this character has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we know that will extend to his role behind the camera at the helm of this great new instalment.”
Michael B. Jordan also talked about his directing debut in Creed 3 “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right, Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment.”
He continued, “This franchise and in particular, the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”
What is ‘Creed’ about?
Apart from Michael B. Jordan respiring his role as Adonis Creed, the Creed 3 cast will also include Tessa Thompson respiring her role as Jordan’s girlfriend Bianca and Phylicia Rashad as Adonis’s stepmother Mary Anne Creed. However, it is still not clear whether the other actors from previous instalments of the movie will return for the third party or not. The script of Creed 3 is currently being written by Keenan Coogler and Zack Baylin based on an outline by Ryan Coogler.
The first part of Creed was directed by Ryan Coogler and was released in 2015. The story revolved around Adonis Creed played by Jordan, son of late boxing legend Apollo Creed. the movie shows Adonis following the steps of his father and his journey to become a boxer. However, Creed 2 was directed by Steven Caple Jr. and showed Adonis’s fight with Viktor Drago, who was the son of the boxer who had killed Adonis’s father in the ring.
Now Michael B. Jordan will be directing Creed 3 as soon as the scripts are done and the movie is all set to release in November 2022. Apart from this Jordan will soon be seen in the upcoming action-thriller Without Remorse, which is based on the novel by Tom Clancy.
