American actor Michael B Jordan recalled the one time he starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the movie Hardball from 2001.
Hardball is a 2001 sports-comedy drama movie, which stars The Matrix actor Keanu Reeves, in which Keanu plays a gambler who coaches a Little League baseball team. Among the cast of the team members is a young Michael B Jordan, who plays the role of Jamal. The now 34-year old actor has turned into a movie star. Michael B Jordan has starred in numerous movies with his most popular movie being the MCU’s Black Panther back in 2018.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he talks about the time when Hardball director, Brian Robbins, auditioned him to play the role of Jamal and talked about how Keanu was nice to him off and on-set.
“While we were in production, Keanu took the whole cast out to dinner and we had a chance to meet [his Matrix co-star] Laurence Fishburne.”
“To this day, I still remember thinking to myself in astonishment, ‘I guess this is what movie stars do — take their casts out to dinner with other big actors.’ So much respect for Keanu and Laurence. It really was such a cool moment with two of my heroes.”
Michael talks about how he and his cast members were excited to work with Keanu, knowing he was the main protagonist from The Matrix, one of the highest grossing movies at the time-
“The Matrix was such a big thing. The kids would goof around with Keanu, re-enacting scenes, like dodging bullets in slow motion. They were in awe of Keanu. All these kids were new and raw and had never made a film before.”
