After just 10 months of dating, Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have reportedly split up.
According to People magazine and TMZ reports, the couple ended their romance weeks ago.
The news comes as quite a shock, given how just recently Cody posted a sweet tribute for Miley. “In love with my best friend,” he wrote on his Instagram Story.
Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson relationship history
It was in October 2019 that Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson were first linked together. They were spotted kissing in Los Angeles and it was clear that something was going on.
Simpson had been quite supportive of Miley after revealed she was sober since a few months. “He is very much into clean, healthy living and supports her sobriety,” a source told PEOPLE in July.
In April this year, Simpson said that “being with Miley is a wonderful thing in my life,” calling the pop star “creative and inspiring, fiercely independent” in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.
Prior to Simpson, Cyrus had a brief romance with Hills star Kaitlyn Carter. The Wrecking Ball singer was quick to move on from her marriage to Liam Hemsworth, which lasted for a total of eight months. Miley Cyrus and Hemsworth separated in August 2019.
On the other hand, Cody Simpson was in a serious relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid before he got involved with long-time friend Miley.
All seemed to be going well for Miley and Cody. In fact, the singer even posted a super fun video of the pair dancing to Gonna Make You Sweat. In that moment, we knew Miley and Cody were our favourite new couple. But perhaps all was not well in paradise.
Cody Simpson and Miley Cyrus call it quits
Interestingly, the news of Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson’s split comes hours before the release of Miley’s new single Midnight Sky.
Come to think of it, her post from four days ago promoting her latest track possibly hints at their break-up. “Forever and ever no more. The #MidnightSky is the road I’m taking … head up high in the clouds,” the caption read.
