Never Have I Ever Season 2 will describe the complicated life of first-generation Indian-American high schooler, Devi. In the last season, the series had also touched on a lot of social issues. Hence, Chrissy Teigen who was doing a voiceover appearance on the show had to step away from the teenage drama supposedly due to her cyberbullying controversy. Teigen was involved in a cyberbullying scandal, prompting model Courtney Stodden to physically abuse herself and also encouraging her to suicide.
In the teaser of Never Have I Ever Season 2, we see Devi’s (played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) visible confusion between the two boys, high school hottie, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (played by Darren Barnet), and her newly turned frenemy Ben Gross (played by Jaren Lewison). While talking with Deadline, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan talked about her character Devi and said, “I would love to see Devi love herself. I think that’s an important message that not just high school teenage girls could learn. Just the idea of loving yourself is something I think a lot of people need to hear. I don’t think we do that enough. I don’t think we value ourselves as much as we should.”
“People tend to take care of other people, but they tend to neglect their own emotions, their own well-being, their own mental health. Devi’s a prime example of that,” she said about her character from Never Have I Ever.
