The first teaser for You season 3, as well as the official release date, has been released by Netflix.
Season 3 of You teases Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), our literary stalker, and his reverse stalker, now Love Quinn-Goldberg (Victoria Pedretti), becoming parents.
Joe prepares a Dexter-style cake, frosting it with “Welcome Baby Henry,” and slicing into it to reveal the premiere date in the name-reveal teaser.
In the teaser’s start, Joe narrates, “People these days will name their kids anything to get attention,” apparently addressing his newly-born child. “And despite your mother’s background and your Glamma’s determination to refer to you as Forty reincarnated, I know better.”
He continues, “A boy is not what we expected, and I would be lying if I said the thought of a mini-me was purely exciting and not without, uh, challenges. Let’s just say, I’m hoping you’ll do as I say, not as I do. But for you, I can change. I’ll be a man you can look up to. A man you will be proud to call Dad.”
In the final scene, a precisely cut slice reveals the release date for the following installment: October 15, 2021.
The show’s first season is based on Caroline Kepnes’ 2014 novel and it follows Penn Badgley’s Joe, a New York City bookstore manager, who gets obsessed with an aspiring writer named Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail) after she purchases something from his store one day.
Joe begins to manage things so that they meet paths almost instantly and he changes his demeanour to appeal to her. However, as his irrational obsession with her deepens, so do his acts.
The second season of the show, which is loosely based on Kepnes’ 2016 sequel, follows Joe after he relocates to Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming a better person. But when he meets charismatic heiress Love Quinn, his vow becomes all too difficult.
Love confessed to past misdeeds that rivalled Joe, insisted that the two were supposed to meet and fall in love, and informed him that she was pregnant with his child in the show’s emotional finale. They put their difficulties aside and relocate to the suburbs where Joe becomes enamoured with his glamorous next-door neighbour, whose identity is yet to be disclosed.
Both Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti, as well as Saffron Burrows, who plays Love’s mother Dottie, will return in season 3 of You. Newcomers Scott Speedman, Shannon Chan-Kent, Ben Menhl, Chris O’Shea, Christopher Sean, Dylan Arnold, Michaela McManus, Shalita Grant, Travis Van Winkle, and Tati Gabrielle will join the trio on screen.
