Netflix promises ‘new movie every week’ in 2021

Netflix is bidding adieu to two of its most beloved movie franchises- ‘The Kissing Booth’ and the ‘To all the Boys’ in 2021.

On January 12, Netflix unveiled all the movies that will be releasing on the platform this year. The brief video released by Netflix consists of 71 new movies that are set to release along with ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ and ‘To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean’

Although we are disheartened to hear that two of our favorite movie franchises are coming to a close, one good thing to come out of this is that we can now watch all three parts together anytime. According to Netflix, ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ was secretly shot along with the second part.

Both the original movies have performed extremely well on the platform in terms of viewership. ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ became a massive success at the time of its release, and Netflix announced that it is the “most viewed original film ever with strong repeat viewing.”

The chief content officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, revealed that the teen rom-com ‘The Kissing Booth,’ which is based on Beth Reekles’ book “is one of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe in the world.” While ‘The Kissing Booth 2,’ which was released in 2020, became the third most-watched movie on Netflix.

Though there is no official confirmation from the filmmakers about the release, Joey King announced last year in November that ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ will release in summer 2021.

On November 16, 2020, while receiving the E! People’s Choice Awards, she disclosed, “I told myself that if I won, I would share a very exciting piece of news with everybody. So I want to tell you that Kissing Booth 3, our final installment, is going to be released in summer 2021, and I’m so excited.”

Vince Marcello, director of ‘The Kissing Booth 3’ has co-written the movie along with Jay Arnold. The entire original cast which includes Joel Courtney( as Lee Flynn), Jacob Elordi (as Noah Flynn), Joey King (as Rochelle “Elle” Evans), Maisie Richardson- Sellers (as Chloe Winthrop), Taylor Zakhar Perez (as Marco Valentin Pena), Meganne Young (as Rache), and Molly Ringwald (as Mrs. Flynn) has been restored.
