Piers Morgan Thinks Sharon Osbourne Had To Leave Because She Spoke In His Defence
Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne are currently facing a lot of criticism. After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave their interview to Oprah Winfrey, Piers Morgan spoke out his thoughts about the Duchess’s interview and said that he doesn’t believe what she told Oprah about the Royal Family. The 55-year-old journalist said, “I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth (Meghan). And I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible. If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out within that interview, so be it.”
Piers Morgan was already facing a lot of backlash for his comments on Meghan Markle which were believed to be racist when his friend Sharon Osbourne joined him in that. Sharon Osbourne hosted the show ‘The Talk’ for almost 11 years and now she has to walk out of it. The reason behind this lies in the episode that premiered on March 10th in which Sharon was co-hosting with Sheryl Underwood.
Sheryl asked Sharon during the episode, “What would you say to people who may feel that while you’re standing by your friend, it appears you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist? Even if you don’t agree.”
Defending her friend Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne asked her co-host how is the statement made by Morgan racist? She said, “I’ll ask you again, Sheryl, I’ve been asking you during the break, I’m asking you.” All this behaviour in turn made Sheryl emotional to which Osbourne said, “And don’t try and cry, because if anybody should be crying, it should be me.” After that CBS was quick to let Sharon Osbourne go, blaming it on her ” bad behaviour toward her co-hosts”.
However, Piers Morgan feels that the real reason her friend Sharon Osbourne had to leave the show is that she tried to defend him, and so on Monday, Piers Morgan wrote a column for the Daily Mail in which he said “I’m not a racist and neither is Sharon Osbourne but that didn’t stop the woke mob lynching her just for defending me in a shocking episode that shames the Cowardly Broadcasting Network and should horrify anyone who values free speech,” Morgan also lashed out on Sheryl Underwood as his column also consisted of some of Underwood’s past controversial comments.
Towards the end of his column, Morgan once again clarified that he never said anything racist against Meghan Markle either in print or on television. He said, “In fact, the only time I’ve ever mentioned her race has been to repeatedly say how great it was that a bi-racial woman was marrying into the very white British royal family,”
